Texas Legal Direct is designed around a simple idea: before substantial legal work begins, you should understand what that work will cost.

Instead of billing most work by the hour, Texas Legal Direct offers many common legal services for flat fees. Your household income determines which of our three fee levels applies.

START HERE: INITIAL CONSULTATION

Initial Consultation — $100

You start with a consultation with trained Texas professionals. You will explain your legal problem; we will help identify important issues, understand your options, and decide what kind of additional help may make sense.

The initial consultation is primarily a conversation. It does not include extensive review of a large case file or evidence collection.

WHAT KINDS OF FEES DO YOU CHARGE FOR SERVICES?

For each service, we will offer one of three rates base on how close your household is to the Federal Poverty Guideline.

Your flat fee charge is based on how far your household is above the Federal Poverty Guidelines (FPG), which are set every year by the federal government.

WHAT KINDS OF SERVICES CAN I BUY?

After the initial consultation, the right next step depends on what you need. Texas Legal Direct offers a menu of limited-scope options:

1. Detailed Strategy Session

For clients who need more than an initial consultation, a Detailed Strategy Session provides additional attorney preparation and a deeper discussion of the facts, where the matter currently stands, risks, options, and concrete next steps. It may include advance review of a limited set of especially important documents identified for the questions being addressed.

2. Case File & Evidence Review

Some legal problems come with hundreds of pages of pleadings, emails, texts, financial records, discovery, photographs, audio, video, or other evidence. That work is different from a consultation.

If you have a large case file, you may submit the materials first. Our team can assess the type and quantity of material to gauge the scope the work. We will then propose a flat fee for the substantive attorney review.

3. Defined Legal Tasks

Many common tasks can be purchased for predetermined flat fees. Depending on the practice area, examples may include drafting a petition, answer, motion, discovery, demand letter, agreement, estate-planning document, or other court filing; reviewing a settlement; helping with negotiation; or preparing for mediation or a hearing.

The goal is to define the task clearly so you know what is included before the work begins.
